In this talk we present the latest progress in the development of an implicit maxwell solver for plasma simulations based on the method of lines transpose approach. The approach leads directly to an implicit formulation that, under the appropriate scaling, recovers the Darwin limit of electromagnetics. We present the method, and its application to a 1D plasma slab test problem. We further demonstrate how the 1D method can be leveraged to develop a fast 2D/3D code.
