Hyperlinear profile measures the dimension growth of unitary approximations to discrete groups. We are interested in finding groups where the hyperlinear profile grows particularly fast. Currently, the best known lower bounds are polynomial. In this talk, I will outline how to construct a group with a hyperlinear profile which is at least subexponential.
