Lori Watson
Wake Forest University

Though it is rightly called the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, the ability to factor nonzero integers in a unique way is an important property that is easy to take for granted. In this talk, we will discuss unique factorization and its use in solving Diophantine equations. We will also explore what can happen in the absence of unique factorization.
