Exceptional curves have played an important role in the development of family Seiberg-Witten theory. In the talk we will survey how does the concept of exceptional curves come out of family Seiberg-Witten theory, as a mean to extend Taubes' result and D. Mcduff's proposal. We will also discuss the enumerative scheme involving type II exceptional curves.
