We derive some estimates for the identification of quasi-flat
cracks and present simulations of the far field pattern generated
by non-flat acoustic cracks in 3D, using the variational formulation
of the boundary integral equation to avoid the hypersingularity in
the double layer potential representation.
The estimates and simulations show the direct relation between a
far field plane having almost null amplitude and the main directions
of a plane that defines a quasi-flat crack.
