Many directions to a black hole

Luis Lehner
Louisiana State University

Black holes are intimately tied to the strongest gravitational fields. It is in their surrounding where Einstein's theory display many of its profund implications and present us with a challenge to understand them. This talk will discuss a few examples --in 4 and larger dimensions-- where black holes play a key role and the efforts to unravel their physical
consequences.
