High performance parallel Particle in Cell codes for laser plasma interaction

Jean Claude Adam
Ecole Polytechnique, France

After a presentation of the challenges that must be faced to model laser plasma interaction in the context of the Inertial fusion ,we will beginning by a review of desirable features of state of the art explicit particle codes used in this field. We will next introduce implicit PIC codes. Next we will discuss the possibility of coupling this two kind of codes in the context of a new way of doing AMR ,using absorbing boundary conditions of the Perflectly Matching Layer type. Finally we will discuss the use of high order splines as well as weighted particles.
