General relativistic simulations of post-neutron star mergers as progenitors of short Gamma-ray bursts

Miguel-Angel Aloy
University of Valencia

I will present the results of general relativistic hydrodynamic simulations of post-neutron star merger disks as potential candidates to be progenitors of short-lasting gamma-ray bursts. I will outline the most important conditions under which a gamma-ray burst can be initiated in this kind of progenitor and
the main properties of the resulting ultrarelativistic outflow.
