Simulations of the Intracluster Medium

Mitchell Begelman
University of Colorado

The gaseous atmospheres of clusters of galaxies are apparently being stirred and heated by outflows from accreting black holes in the cluster cores. I will show how 3D simulations backed up by analytic models are helping us to understand the complex gas dynamics and thermal history of these enormous systems.
