Exact Diagonalization: A Smart Tool to Study New States of Quantum Matter

Andreas Läuchli
Max-Planck-Institut für Physik Komplexer Systeme

In this talk I will review recent conceptual and computational advances in the context of exact diagonalization which enabled exciting studies of new states of quantum matter. Topics to be covered are "tower of states" spectroscopy of unconventional quantum magnets, the use of correlation density matrices and reduced density matrices to systematically determine important correlations and local order parameters, as well as sparse matrix approaches tailored for the simulation of dynamical correlation functions and real-time evolution.
