Synthetic Explorations of Heterocyclic Diversity

Peter Wipf
University of Pittsburgh

This presentation will attempt to address the general questions on how
we can (a) invent new chemical reactions in a systematic manner, (b) identify a
representative number of synthetically tractable examples of a new chemotype,
(c) use biological screening to provide us with feedback on the significance of
structural modifications of the chemotype, and, (d) convince the wider scientific
community that (a)-(c) are relevant for the advancement of the state-of-the art in
drug discovery.
