IPAM is pleased to share a funding opportunity for US-based mathematicians at all career stages to participate in the 2022 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) to be held from July 6 – 14, 2022 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to interact with professional counterparts in mathematics research and education from around the world to garner and share new ideas. Under the aegis of the International Mathematical Union, the ICM occurs every four years in a different country. Besides a rich scientific program, it is the setting for the conferring of the Fields Medal, Gauss Prize, and other honors.

Individuals at all career stages—graduate students, faculty, practitioners and researchers—are welcome to apply. Applications from women, individuals from underrepresented groups, and those who may be attending an international meeting for the first time are especially encouraged to apply!

With support from the National Science Foundation, the Simons Foundation, and the ICM Local Organizing Committee, the AMS is administering a travel-grant program to support the participation of as many as 240 US-based mathematicians in the Congress. Awards of up to $3,500, or equivalent, will be made to cover travel expenses, lodging, subsistence, and registration.

The deadline for applications is December 1, 2021.
