The National Academy of Sciences recently announced the election of 84 new members and 21 foreign associates in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. The list includes three members of IPAM’s Science Advisory Board: Emmanuel Candès (Mathematics and Statistics, Stanford), Cynthia Dwork (distinguished scientist, Microsoft Research), and Bin Yu (Statistics, UC Berkeley). Candès was also an organizer of our 2010 long program on Optimization. Also elected was Craig Evans (Mathematics, UC Berkeley), who has been an IPAM workshop speaker and organizer. Congratulations!
