For Immediate Release:

Postdoctoral Researcher Positions through the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM)

Application deadline: April 10, 2009

IPAM will hire postdoctoral researchers and place them in a research group in academia, industry or a government laboratory.

Criteria for eligibility:
  • Applications must be US candidates; i.e. citizens or permanent residents or hold a PhD from a US university or currently be a postdoc at a US university.
  • These positions are intended for recent recipients of PhDs (2005 or later) who were unsuccessful in the current job market.
  • Applicants should be engaged in the mathematical sciences. This would include mathematicians working in a mathematics group, mathematicians working in a science group or scientists working in a mathematics group. Interdisciplinary research projects are preferred.

We expect these to be two year positions, but a single year position is also possible. The start date will fall between August 1 and October 1, 2009, and the salary level will be competitive.

The postdocs will receive mentoring to assist their research and career development. The primary mentor will be the host postdoctoral advisor, but there will also be mentoring activities at IPAM and the other NSF mathematics institutes.

Applicants should submit (or already have available) the standard application materials through MathJobs.org, and they should also submit a statement of interest at online application.  An announcement and further application instructions are available online at http://www.aimath.org/institutespostdoc/. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 10, 2009.
