Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) Celebration 2023

August 18, 2023

Overview

The annual Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) program at IPAM provides a unique and valuable real-world industry exposure to undergraduate students from all over the world. More than 700 students have come to IPAM since the inception of RIPS in 2001. It has now been complemented by a Satellite program in Singapore, and 2 related graduate student version of it (G-RIPS) in Sendai, Japan, and Berlin, Germany. This summer on August 18 we want to celebrate and showcase the success of this program.

The program of the event will include the following:

Keynote speakers: Two long-term supporters of RIPS and IPAM have agreed to give keynote lectures at the event:

A panel about careers in Industry: Several RIPS alums will share their experiences about their career path in industry.

A panel about careers in Academia: Several RIPS alums will share their experiences about their career path in academia.

A panel about other opportunities for former and current RIPS participants.

Testimonials from former RIPS students, sponsors, and mentors: If you want to share your experience during RIPS, and how it affected your career path and in life, please complete form in this link:  https://forms.gle/6WUq38CDYncHvsc47.

There will be plenty of opportunities for networking and social mixers throughout the day, and to simply reconnect with some old friends from a previous RIPS experience. Click here to register to attend this program. IPAM will close registration if we reach capacity; for this reason, we encourage you to register early. The registration fee covers lunch and the banquet dinner.

Note that the registration fee will increase by $50 on July 18.

There is no application process for financial support for this event.  A limited number of small travel grants might be available for a small number of people under special circumstances.  If you would like to be considered for this, please email RIPSalumni@ipam.ucla.edu.
