The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) is a co-sponsor of the year-long
Math of Planet Earth 2013 Initiative.
It is the goal of this initiative to showcase the role of mathematics in understanding
complex processes that are related to the planet’s climate, sustainability, energy, water,
and economics, and more broadly, all dynamical processes that are relevant to understanding
our planet. This initiative has many partners around the globe. IPAM has dedicated a
number of workshops and activities to this initiative during 2013.
