While QKD protocols can be proven secure, we cannot prove security of actual devices. At the beginning of my talk I will review our expectations about security proofs of QKD, including model assumptions and their verifications. In the second half I will present some recent results about the security of realistic phase-encoded BB84 protocols and about simplified trusted repeater networks.
