Curvature-dimension and Li-Yau inequalities in sub-Riemannian geometry

I will present an overview of a program whose objective is developing a notion of Ricci lower bounds in sub-Riemannian geometry. I will present several results of a global nature linking curvature lower bounds to quantitative estimates of solutions of the relevant heat equation.
