Abstract
Towards single stage optimization for omnigeneity

I will present a review of single-stage stellarator optimization methods for quasi-symmetry, i.e., we optimize the plasma shape and the coils at the same time. Then, I will discuss an extension of this to omnigeneity, a larger class of magnetic fields with excellent particle confinement properties. Based on work with A. Cerfon, A. Giuliani, M. Landreman, F. Wechsung and T. Schorlepp.
