Abstract

The protein folding problem: introduction and new results, exposition for mathematicians.

There is a dogma due to Anfinson more than 50 years ago. The folded protein in the nucleus is determined by the (linear) amino acid chain. We will describe this dogma and give some predictions on the distances between the atoms in the folded structure.
