Recently, Kleiner gave a new proof of Gromov's celebrated theorem on groups of polynomial growth by exploiting the properties of harmonic functions on such groups. We will discuss some recent work with Yehuda Shalom on using Kleiner's arguments to give quantitative bounds for Gromov's theorem.
