We wish to present various aspects of the notion of renormalized solutions which emerged (especially in kinetic theory and for parabolic equations) after their introduction by R. DiPerna and P.-L. Lions in 89, and their relationships with the structure of collision kernels of Boltzmann, Landau or Smoluchowsky type.
