Jiayi Li is a post doc at UCLA Mathematics, currently a researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics. In 2024, she was accepted to IPAM’s “Mathematics of Intelligences” long program, to continue her research on the algebraic optimization of neural networks. During the program, Jiayi learned from disciplines far removed from her background in statistics, “There was one group using LLMs to understand culture dynamics. I work with LLMs, but I never thought of doing it that way. People were studying the mathematics behind natural intelligences.”
