Two IPAM participants have been named to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers‘ (IEEE’s) list of 2017 Newly Elevated Fellows. Rafail Ostrovsky (UCLA), a speaker at several IPAM workshops and an organizer of the 2006 long program Securing Cyberspace, was honored for his contributions to cryptography. Reza Rejaie (University of Oregon), a core participant of our 2008 long program Multi-Resolution Analysis, was recognized for contributions to multimedia and peer-to-peer networking, and Internet measurement. According to the IEEE site, “IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation.”
