IPAM is saddened to share the unexpected passing of world-renowned CU-Boulder applied mathematician, Keith Julien, on Sunday, April 14, 2024. In 2014 he co-organized IPAM’s 14-week program on the Mathematics of Turbulence and was a main organizer for the January 2025 workshop Rotating Turbulence: Interplay and Separability of Bulk and Boundary Dynamics. His more than 30-year career at CU included service as Chair of the Department of Applied Mathematics from 2015 to 2024.
