Vector Bundles and Superpotentials in Heterotic String Theory

Rank four stable holomorphic vector bundles on Calabi-Yau threefolds with non-trivial homotopy will be constructed. These bundles lead to standard-like theories of particle physics with naturally suppressed nucleon decay. The vector bundle moduli in this context will be discussed and, using algebraic techniques, the exact non-perturbative superpotential for these moduli computed.
