Statistical Problems in Particle Physics

Louis Lyons

Some of the open statistical issues in Particle Physics analyses are discussed. These include incorporating systematic errors in confidence limit calculations or in hypothesis testing; goodness of fit with sparse multi-dimensional data; multivariate separation of signal from background; choice of Bayesian priors; estimating signal significance; combining results from different analyses; etc, etc. The recent PHYSTAT Conferences are described.
