Computing eigensolutions with meshless methods - advantages and difficulties.

Carlos Alves
Technical University of Lisbon

In this talk we present a meshless method of fundamental solutions to compute eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Laplacian (2D, 3D) and of the Bilaplacian. We present some numerical experiments related to some known problems (e.g. quasi-stadium conjecture). We will also discuss the conditioning and boundary regularity difficulties related to these Trefftz type methods, and present some new results.
