SIAM announced their Fellows Class of 2016, and two IPAM participants were among those recognized:

  • Dwight Barkley (University of Warwick)—participant in Mathematics of Turbulence long program (2014)
  • Gregory Beylkin (University of Colorado Boulder)—participant in Multiscale Geometry and Analysis in High Dimensions long program (2004), and speaker at an upcoming workshop during the Understanding Many-Particle Systems with Machine Learning long program.

According to the SIAM website, the goals of the Fellows Program are: (1) to honor SIAM members who are recognized by their peers as distinguished for their contributions to the discipline; (2) to help make outstanding SIAM members more competitive for awards and honors when they are being compared with colleagues from other disciplines; and (3) to support the advancement of SIAM members to leadership positions in their own institutions and in the broader society.

Congratulations to the new class of selected Fellows!
