Anosov representations of hyperbolic groups provide rich examples of Zariski-dense discrete subgroups of higher rank Lie groups, which are far from being lattices. In many respects Anosov representations generalize the class of convex cocompact subgroups in Lie groups of rank one to the higher rank setting. In this talk I will introduce Anosov representations, discuss some of their properties, recent results and open questions.
