American Academy of Arts and Sciences Elects New Members in 2023

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences has elected 269 new members. Every year, the Academy recognizes exceptional artists, scholars, scientists, and leaders from the public, non-profit, and private sectors. IPAM is delighted to announce that Sergey Fomin, Professor of Mathematics at University of Michigan and a speaker at the upcoming IPAM 2024 workshop Statistical Mechanics and Discrete Geometry; Lakshminarayanan Mahadevan, Professor of Applied Mathematics, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and Physics at Harvard University and co-organizer and speaker of IPAM’s 2022 workshop Mathematics of Collective Intelligence and a speaker of IPAM’s 2016 Partial Order: Mathematics, Simulations and Applications; Piotr Indyk, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and speaker at IPAM’s 2022 workshop Multi-Modal Imaging with Deep Learning and Modeling ; Tamer Başar, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and participant at IPAM’s 2020 long program High Dimensional Hamilton-Jacobi PDEs, speaker at IPAM’S workshop Mean Field Games, and speaker at IPAM’s Graduate Summer School Mean Field Games and Applications; Nader Engheta, Professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering at University of Pennsylvania and speaker at IPAM’s 2020 workshop Theory and Computation for 2D Materials; Liliana Borcea, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Michigan and speaker of IPAM’s 2012 Challenges in Synthetic Aperture Radar; and Amir Dembo, Professor of mathematics and statistics at Stanford University and speaker of IPAM’s 2012 program Mathematical Challenges in Graphical Models and Message-Passing Algorithms are amongst the accomplished new members.
