IPAM Affiliates Honored in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Class of 2016

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences elected 213 new members—the world’s most accomplished scholars, scientists, writers, artists, as well as civic, business, and philanthropic leaders. Of these new members, five of them are affiliated with IPAM:
- Leslie Greengard (NYU)—organizer of the Computational Methods in High Energy Density Plasmas long program (2012) and “Collective Variables in Classical Mechanics,” the second workshop of the fall long program on Understanding Many-Particle Systems with Machine Learning
- Bryna Kra (Northwestern)—member of IPAM’s Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2015
- Roberto Peccei (UCLA)—Dean and Vice Chancellor for Research who provided important support to IPAM during its first ten years
- Vladimir Rokhlin (Yale)—organizer of Mathematics of Knowledge and Search Engines long program (2007)
- Peter Voorhees (Northwestern)—speaker at several IPAM workshops, most recently during the Materials Defects long program (2012)
