IPAM’s long program on optimization provided an enormous boost to the area. The [participants] included many people outside of traditional “core” optimization, in perfect accord with the truly interdisciplinary nature of modern optimization research. The meeting rates high on the list of significant events in continuous optimization during the past decade.
