Workshop V: Applications of Optimization in Science and Engineering

November 30 - December 3, 2010

Overview

Recent advances in optimization have made an important impact in a variety of disciplines, including control, communications, signal processing, image processing, machine learning, and computer vision. Conversely, applications in engineering and science have motivated new research directions in optimization. The workshop will feature speakers from a range of application areas. They will discuss the role that optimization has played in their fields, opportunities for new applications, and the future challenges they see for optimization theory, algorithms, and software.
