Consider Teichmuller spaces of infinite surfaces including the Teichmuller space of the unit disk-the universal Teichmuller space. We discuss the shear coordinates for the Teichmuller spaces and compute the tangent vectors to the Teichmuller spaces as well as the complex structure of the Teichmuller spaces in terms of shear coordinates.
