The CD(K,N)-spaces by Sturm and by Lott and Villani can contain lots of branching geodesics. I will discuss how branching geodesics might cause problems in the analysis of these space and how some of these problems can be solved. I will also discuss the almost lack of branching geodesic in the more restrictive class of RCD(K,\infty)-spaces by Ambrosio, Gigli and Savaré.
