Non-local macroscopic models accounting for the presence of autonomous vehicles

Conservation laws with non-local flux have been recently introduced in road traffic flow modeling to account for the reaction of drivers to downstream vehicle densities, assigning a greater importance to closer vehicles. Taking different convolution kernels for different (autonomous and human-driven) classes of vehicles, we obtain a multi-population model accounting for the presence of autonomous vehicles in the traffic flow. We will give some analytical results concerning the well-posedness of the model, and we will present some numerical tests showing the impact of autonomous vehicles on the global traffic dynamics.
