Tremendous amounts of data, new technologies, and recent innovations in hardware, software, and algorithms provide opportunities to develop extreme scale systems for HPC, machine learning, and data analytics. This two-part tutorial will discuss hardware for HPC and Big Data, along with examples of how this hardware is being used to design and optimize large-scale systems. The first tutorial will cover trends in HPC and Big Data, the opportunity for converged HPC and Big Data systems, and processors, accelerators, and memory architectures for HPC, machine learning, and data analytics. The second tutorial will cover recent advances in interconnects and networks, system design and optimization, and challenges and opportunities in the design of future extreme scale systems.
