We give a survey of uniqueness results and reconstruction methods for
solving the inverse scattering problem for time harmonic electromagnetic
waves at fixed frequency. For the purpose of clarity we focus on the
scattering of TM polarized waves by an infinite cylinder.Included in our
discussion is the physical optics approximation,Newton's method, the
linear sampling method and the Born approximation.
