Sets of expression profiles taken over diverse cellular conditions can be used to assign gene functions and identify pathway reporters. Profiling the responses to specific drug and genetic interventions can illuminate pathway architectures and drug activities. Toxicity prediction and medical diagnostics also are promising areas. Examples are given using inkjet in situ synthesized arrays.
