Correlation methods for wave-front sensing

Lisa Poyneer

Arbitrary images can be used for wave-front sensing, with accurate predictions of performance based on scene content and illumination. Application of these methods to point sources provides several benefits to current algorithms, including linear gain, low read noise propagation and no bias due to spot halo aberrations.
This is of relevance for both current AO and laser guide star scenarios.
