Rectified Brownian Motion in Subcellular Biology

Ron Fox
Georgia Institute of Technology

The concept of rectified Brownian motion will be explained and illustrated. Examples include the ubiquinone shuttle of the electron transport chain, rotary enzymes and motor proteins such as kinesin and myosin V. In the case of kinesin, a mean first passage time analysis of a simple model will be presented.
