The talk will discuss the problem of matching isometric manifolds by embedding their intrinsic geometric structures in simple domains. I will focus on the 3DFace project, and expression invariant face recognition. At the Geometric Image Processing Lab, together with the Bronstein brothers, we built a system that can distinguish between two identical twins based on 3D pictures of their faces. Our system can recognize faces under various poses and facial expressions. I will review the components of our system, starting from general biometrics and face recognition techniques. I will emphasis some theoretical problems and technical challenges.
