We describe an approach that utilizes gene expression profiling, cell sorting, chromatin immunoprecipitation, as well as multi-species cis-regulatory sequence analysis, to study
the trancriptional programs relevant to mammalian development and to characterize the sequence elements responsible for their regulation.
