Many fluid dynamic applications are in the so called low Mach number regime. In some cases the right decription of the energy transport is fundamental. Then the standard approaches have to be revisted. Here we present two applications (tunnel fire modelling and solar updraft towers) where an appropriate asympotics leads to a model which give reasonalbe results.
