Intersection models and Nash equilibria for traffic flow on networks

Alberto Bressan
Pennsylvania State University

The talk will review some models of traffic flow at a road intersection, and the well-posedness of the corresponding Cauchy problems. For a given family of cost functions, depending on the departure and arrival times of the various groups of drivers, the existence of a Nash equilibrium will be discussed. By definition, this is a solution where no diver can lower his own cost by changing departure time or choosing a different route to reach destination.
