On Hamilton-Jacobi PDEs and image denoising models with non-additive noise

We present some very preliminary results of a collaboration that started during the IPAM HJ program.
We consider image denoising problems formulated as variational problems. It is known that HJ PDEs govern the solution of these optimization problems when the noise model is additive. In this work we address non-additive noise models and show that they are also related to HJ PDEs. This new relation allows us to establish new connections between additive and non-additive noise imaging models formulated as variational problems.
