Pulse dynamics in nonlinear photonic crystal fibers and periodic structures

In the last few years, experiments in photonic crystal fibers
have shown nonlinear phenomena such as supercontinuum generation,
third harmonic generation and efficient Raman self-frequency shift.
Similarly, although yet to be experimentally observed, bragg grating
structures provide means of unique phenomena such as gap bullets,
pulse switching and trapping.
In this talk, we will present the typical models used in these problems
their predictions and limitations.
