Blobs (a colloquial name for a generalization of the Kaiser-Bessel window functions) are a multiparameter family of radial functions in any-dimensional space that are spatially limited and can be made to be essentially bandlimited and differentiable any number of times. Linear combinations of them have been found useful in image reconstruction from projections and in computer graphics to represent objects and surfaces. While traditionally such representations made use of shifted copies of a single blob, the potential exist to use blobs of different scales to achieve more efficient representations.
