A molecular motor is a transducer which accepts chemical input to control molecular conformation and produce mechanical output. All three aspects are crucial, and in biosystems are related by
evolutionary tuning. We will start with a toy model, and the develop a general approach to such systems in the context of a time scale- dependent overcomplete density functional picture.
